بدلتے چہرے - Changing faces

بڑی مشکل سے میسر ہوا تجھ سے دل کو لگانا

Bari mushkil se mayassar hua tujh se dil ko lagana

With great struggle, my heart found a way to be tied to you,

بہت ازمایا تجھے چاہا تجھ کو اپنا بنانا

Bohat aazmaya tujhe, chaha tujh ko apna banana

I tried and I loved, hoping one day you’d be mine too.

ہر دور میں تھا تیرے وجود کا مختلف سویرا

Har daur mein tha tere wujood ka mukhtalif sawera

In every age your being rose with a different dawn,

وقت کے تقاضے کے ساتھ بدلتا رہا اس کا چہرہ

Waqt ke taqazay ke saath badalta raha uska chehra

As time’s demands evolved, your face kept changing on and on.

عمر گزرتی گئی پر میرا رویہ نہ بدلا

Umar guzarti gayi par mera rawayya na badla

Years passed me by, but my heart stayed the same,

وہ بدل گئے اس کی رحمت کا ذریعہ نہ بدلا

Woh badal gaye us ki rehmat ka zariya na badla

They changed, yet His mercy’s source remained in His name.

وقت کے ساتھ وہ چلتے رہے پر ہم نہ چل پائے

Waqt ke sath woh chaltey rahey par hum na chal paaye

They walked with time’s footsteps, embracing the flow,

ہم اپنے اصولوں کو ساتھ نہ ان کو بدل پائے

Hum apne usooolon ko sath na unko badal paaye

But we stood with our values, refusing to bow.

ساتھ ہم دونوں تھے پھر بھی تنہائی کا احساس تھا مجھ کو

Saath hum dono thay phir bhi tanhai ka ehsas tha mujh ko

Though we were together, I still felt alone inside,

وقت کاٹتا تھا پر وقت کا قیاس تھا مجھ کو

Waqt kaat'ta tha par waqt ka qiyaas tha mujh ko

Time kept passing by, yet I sensed its tide.
