عمرِ باقی کا سرا" (Umr-e-Baqi Ka Sira)


The Thread of Remaining Life and Reflection 


اس ضعیفی میں ڈھونڈتا ہوں عمر باقی کا سرا رسن
Is za'eefi mein dhoondhte huin umr baqi ka sira e rasan
In this frailty, I search the thread of life’s last span,

جس کو تھام کے نکل جائیں اب برائے فردوس چمن
Jis ko thaam ke nikal jaayein ab   baraye firdous chaman
To hold that cord and leave this world, toward Heaven’s garden, that’s the plan.

معاف کرنا میری کوتاہی کو ابتدا میں جو دی تھی تجھ کو قسم
Maaf karna meri kotahi ko ibtida mein jo di thi tujh ko  qasam
Forgive my fault from the very start, when I swore to you with all my heart.

میں دہراتا ہوں یاد ہے مجھ کو بس تو ہی ہے ایک رب مقدم
Main dohrata hoon yaad hai mujh ko bas tu hi hai aik Rab muqaddam
I still repeat, I do recall — my Lord alone stands first of all.

سوا تیرے یا الہی اور کوئی نہیں ہے میرا فانی صنم
Sawa tere ya Ilahi aur koi nahi hai mera fani sanam
Except for You, O God divine, no idol claims this heart of mine.
