Silsila-e-Khudi — The Chain of the Self

تیری الفت میں صنم میں نے کھویا سلسلہ
Teri ulfat mein sanam, maine khoya silsila

In your love, my beloved, I lost my chain of grace,
The path I walked vanished without a trace.


منقطع کر دیا میں نے رحم صلہ
Munqata kar diya maine reh’m sila

I cut off mercy, compassion, and tie,
For love’s illusion made my heart defy.

بدلہ خود میں نے اپنا راہ صلہ
Badla khud maine apna raah sila

I changed my road, my destiny’s way,
Turned light to night, and hope to grey.

بعد مدت کے آیا زندگی میں زلزلہ
Baad muddat ke aaya zindagi mein zalzala

After ages, life shook like a quake,
Every dream within began to break.

صحرا کے سراب میں دانا کا سب لٹ گیا
Sehra ke saraab mein daana ka sab lut gaya
In desert’s mirage, the wise man lost his all,
Chasing illusions that led to his fall.

جہاں سے چلا تھا وہ سلسلہ کٹ گیا
Jahan se chala tha woh silsila kat gaya

The path he began was broken midway,
His journey’s thread just faded away.

تربیت والدین پر بنایا  تھا ایک علم کا قلعہ
Tarbiyat-e-waledein par banaya tha ek ilm ka qila

Built on parents’ training, a fortress of thought,
But the world deceived, and all was forgot.

فریبی دنیا نے لوٹا، ہاتھ میں کچھ نہ ملا
Farebi duniya ne loota, haath mein kuch na mila

The cunning world robbed all I had near,
Left my palms empty, my heart in fear.


کھودی بنیاد لمبی زمین میں ہر طرف
Khodi buniyaad lambi zameen mein har taraf

I dug deep roots in every land wide,
Yet lost my ground, my humble pride.

دو گز کی زمیں تھی سامنے مختصر
Do gaz ki zameen thi samne mukhtasir

In the end, only two yards I own,
A narrow grave, where all is known.
